Textures In Our World
For this project I wanted to focus on textures that we see in our daily lives. I shot in three main locations, the dog park, my apartment complex, and at a hot springs resort. I have split my project of textures into smaller genres of hair, nature, and water/skin. The reason why I chose to do this was because I wanted to showcase the images in smaller sections where each set of images can stand on their own and showcase the textures. I felt if I mixed all the images together it could lose cohesion and value. While at each of the locations I took countless pictures which later I edited digitally to enhance the color to a cool tone. I chose a cool tone because when I raised the saturation in editing, I felt it did not reach the aesthetic I wanted, and cooler tones helped the viewer focus on the textures. The most fun I had whilst doing this project was going to the dog park. My roommate and I have dog so it became apparent that the fur of animals creates a lot of texture and color that we may not normally analyze. In this current series of photos there are 25 total in which will be the start to a full series of 40 images. Throughout the next section of photos, I want to include another genre of fabrics and knitted items and show texture through cloth, as well as I will add more images to the already set genres I have made. So far, this project has been enjoyable, and I can’t wait to start taking more photos.
